All About Chris | |||||||||
Christopher Reese is an entrepreneur based in Alexandria, Virginia. He runs several organizations and businesses in the greater Washington DC metropolitan area and is a member of numerous professional associations. As a small business leader, you will find Chris working alternatively as a photographer, video producer, instructional designer, performance consultant, instructor and business developer. Chris received his Bachelors of Science degree in Communications Media from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He later attended Bloomsburg University where he received a Masters of Science degree in Instructional Technology. After moving to the Washington DC area over a decade ago, Chris has worked for a number of well-respected companies. He first worked for PBS in their national office and was responsible for managing a program to address the conversion of video-based satellite courses to a format that would be compatible with an emerging online environment. He later dabbled in the dot com arena by taking a position as a new media designer - only to find himself out of work six months later. This action inspired Chris to establish his first consulting business and found consistent and successful work for over four years. During this time, Chris also became one of the first faculty members for the newly established Art Institute of Washington for the Digital Media Production program. He trained and mentored students on the video production industry and led numerous teams to work for real-world clients like Habitat for Humanity and the Smithsonian Institution. In 2004, he managed a team of over two dozen students to produce a 30-minute, 3-D animation project for the Chemical Educational Foundation. Not only was it a great success, but the program won three Telly Awards! His independent career was interrupted for a year when he was deployed for Operation Iraqi Freedom with the Marine Corps' 4th Civil Affairs Group (located at Anacostia Naval Base in Washington DC). Chris was a Staff Sergeant at the time and spent seven months in Kuwait and Iraq. Upon his return, Chris decided to pursue work with larger companies. He first went to work for the government contracting giant, SAIC. His first work was developing educational tools for soldiers's pre-deployment and anti-IED (improvised explosive device) training. He then moved to Freddie Mac where he took on his first management position as a learning consultant. As a training and media expert, Chris collaborated with others to improve the company's performance management and training programs. While at Freddie Mac, Chris partnered with a friend to form Revolve Solutions, a service-disabled veteran-owned small business that provides videography, editing and production services with specializations in web-based and instructor-led training, interactive DVD videos and photography. In 2008, Revolve spun off a product line of posters called 26animals.com which uses high-quality animal photography. The poster uses the animal pictures to illustrate each letter of the alphabet and is a popular product for children in school or at home. Chris next moved into a role as government employee by taking a GS-13 position with the Defense Intelligence Agency. Essentially, he was an internal performance consultant and was assigned to find ways of improving the performance of individuals and organizations within the agency. After three months, he assumed the position of branch chief overseeing the team of performance consultants. After years of working for large organizations, Chris was yearning for a chance to return to his entrepreneurial roots. A former customer had come along at just the right time and convinced him to join a newly formed entity, Dynamis. Chris was employee #2 and became the Director for Performance + Learning Solutions. Recently, Chris also entered into a mentor/protege relationship with Goel Services, Inc. by establishing Reese Services, a service-disabled veteran-owned small business specializing in a wide range of construction and demolition services.
